The Transatlantic School Initiative

Musik ist ein wichtiger Teil von Cheyenne Moutain High School. Wir haben sechs verschiedene Chöre, die ein reiches Sortiment von Musik zur Bühne bringen. Zwei von den Chören tragen die Namen Crimson und Slate. Slate ist für Jungen und Crimson hat nur junge Frauen darin. Sie singen meistens unbegleitet und nehmen erfolgreich an Wettbewerbe durch ganz Amerika teil.

Music is an important part of Cheyenne Mountain High School. We have six different choirs that bring a rich assortment of music to the stage. Two of these choirs are called Crimson and Slate. Slate is for boys and Crimson only has young women in it. They mostly sing a cappella and participate successfully in competitions throughout all of America.

3 Orchestergruppen und 2 Jazzgruppen, die am meisten angesehenste Gruppe ist aber die Symphonic Band, die in diesem Jahr in New York City in der Carnegie Hall spielen wird.

At Cheyenne Mountain High School are 3 orchestra groups, two jazz bands and the most prestigious symphonic band, which is invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City this year.

Amerika ist geschichtlich ein Land der Immigranten. Hunderttausende wanderten im späten 19. Jahrhundert in die USA ein und fanden ein neues gewähltes Zuhause hier. Oft erhielten sie nicht nur ihre Muttersprachen sondern auch Sitten und Gebräuche aus ihrem Heimatland. Jahrzehnte nach den großen Wellen von deutschen Einwanderer gibt es noch viele Menschen in Amerika, welche die deutsche Sprache und deutsche Kultur noch schätzen und fördern. Hier haben wir Interviews mit Deutschen, die nach Amerika einwanderten und jetzt hier in Colorado Springs wohnen.

America is historically a country of immigrants. Hundreds of thousands immigrated in the late 19th century to the USA and found here new places to make their homes. Often they preserved not only their mother languages, but also the customs and traditions of their home country. Decades after the big waves of German immigrants there are still many people in America who treasure and promote the German language and culture. Here we have some interviews with German people who immigrated to America and now live here in Colorado Springs.
